Who We Are
We Are:
- Followers of Jesus Christ.
- Led by the Holy Spirit.
- Grounded in the life, death, resurrection and continued presence of Jesus Christ in our lives.
- A people to whom God speaks through an open canon of Scripture including the Bible, Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants.
- Believers who seek to live the good news of Jesus Christ in our communities.
- A people who have dedicated our lives to the pursuit of peace, reconciliation, and healing of the spirit.
- A people who believe in the worth of all persons and their giftedness and that all persons are called to journey together with Christ.
- A joyful community that worships, studies, fellowships, and celebrates together.
- A community with a worldwide mission, a unique heritage and cherished beliefs.
- A faith community that draws inspiration from the scriptures, sacraments, prayer, the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, the giftedness and ministry of our fellow seekers, and a heritage of nearly two millennia of Christian lives and history.
We are an international Christian church with 250,000 members found in more than fifty nations. Our World Headquarters, including a Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, is located in Independence, Missouri. We Believe...
- That God, the foundation of our being, loves, sustains and calls us to discipleship.
- That Jesus is the Christ, who for our sake lived, was crucified, died, rose from the dead, and now leads us in a ministry of joy, hope, love and peace.
- That the Holy Spirit is the empowering presence and breath of God, confronting and inspiring us to do God’s work in the world.
- That, as followers of Jesus Christ, we will share in eternal life.
We Commit...
- To being a faithful witness to God’s presence among us.
- To intentionally nurturing our relationship with God and others.
- To fostering peace and justice in our families, our communities and our world.
- To courageously and creatively work for peace and the end of personal and public violence.
- To sharing responsibility for the spiritual growth of persons of all ages in our communities.
- To responding joyfully with our lives, as the grace of God gives us freedom.
